Zen Moments - In the Woods 14

A piece from my Zen Moments portfolio.
This is more traditional Zen subject than the last post,
although the close up is not so traditional...
again riding the edge and asking the viewer to decide!

It is all about the light
and that tiny spiderweb
on the edge of the leaf.
See it?

Zen Moments - In the Woods 13

A piece from my Zen Moments portfolio.
This image is the last of those "stretch" images to play with.
Going into the world of "human things" even more.

This got a lot of feedback during the portfolio review,
about whether it "worked" with the other images
or how much to crop it down.
One reviewer couldn't get past the bottle
and just wanted a picture of the vines on the wall!

Zen Moments - In the Woods 12

A piece from my Zen Moments portfolio.
This image is one of those "stretch" images to play with.
Asking the viewer to think on whether this
image has the same "feel" as some of the other images
in the portfolio, even if it is on a larger scale.

Sunrises in Rockport, TX...back from a photo retreat on the Texas Coast

Sunrises in Rockport, TX...

back from a photo retreat on the Texas Coast

Sunrises in Rockport, TX

I was away for four days for a Miksang Contemplative Photography retreat in Rockport, TX.
Miksang photographers from all over Texas as well as GA and SC came together on the coast to shoot and spend fun times together.

I had a lot of fun with this great group of folks; easy going and great senses of humor.
Nice to put faces with the names of people who have been sharing their works online.

I am posting a few sunrise photos from the trip.
I did get a few photos for my Zen Moments portfolio, expanding it beyond nature into my ordinary world. You will have to stay tuned for those in the future. :)

Zen Moments - In the Woods 11

A piece from my Zen Moments portfolio.

Based on the feedback I received at the portfolio review,
I am now identifying major chapters within my portfolio.
You have been treated to mainly In the Woods photos.
We'll continue with that for a while, then explore
some of the other main chapters together.

This image is one of those "stretch" images to play with.
Can you tell what it is?

Deep in the Forest... Original Photography by Texas Contemporary Artist Denise Bossarte

Deep in the Forest... Original Photography by Texas Contemporary Artist Denise Bossarte

"Deep in the forest
darkened by the thunderstorms,
mushrooms are glowing"

The mushrooms were out in force today.
Went out to the Houston Arboretum but the front came through quickly.
The cloud cover made things pretty dark under the trees
and the rain was soaking me quite thoroughly.
Thank goodness for straw hats and water proof jackets
to keep my head and the camera dry.

Zen Moments -10

A piece from my Zen Moments portfolio.
This is a picture of a tree stump and was one to test the idea of Zen.

The portfolio review last night was a lot of fun.
I got a lot of positive feedback on my images, at least most of them.
The "pushing the envelop" images were not as well received,
but I knew going into the reviews that could happen.
Inspired to go out shooting!

Zen Moments - 09

A piece from my Zen Moments portfolio.
This trail of leaves to the pine needles caught my eye in the morning sunlight.
Another object arrangement piece.
Artist statement written and reviewed by my English major hubby.
Tonight is the open public viewing of all the portfolios.
Will be interesting to see what people have to say about my Zen Moments!
